Flexible Thinking Training 110

Flexible thinking is being able to adapt to new situations, break down complex tasks into simpler tasks, and shift strategies to meet different types of challenges.

Perspective Taking, Sympathy & Empathy Training 120

Perspective Taking is being able to recognize differing perspectives exist for any particular challenge or situation. Sympathy and Empathy is being able to recognize how one might think or feeling about differing challenges and situations. 

Our Personal Development Courses support our members to be successful, emphasizing:

  • Communication skill for work, community, social & personal life situations
  • Self-regulation & Social Skills to express feelings, manage anxiety, manage negative thoughts & emotions, create a positive self-image and Interact positively with others 
  • Social Cognition Skills to develop perspective-taking and a deeper understanding of the expected vs. unexpected 
  • Self-help & advocacy skills to self assess needs, be aware of necessary accommodations, and clearly communicate & Advocate for needs
  • Knowledge of personal rights and responsibilities to effectively make choices, clearly communicating preferences, understand limits and effectively participate in a person directed planning process
  • Develop adaptive skills for real-life problem solving, managing the unexpected and unplanned 
  • Develop strategies to keep safe for personal safety, community safety and workplace safety

Course Requirements

Participants must have attained a Certificate of Accomplishment for admission, however, group courses are best suited for students who leave school with the Ontario Secondary School Certificate or Diploma. Suitability will be assessed on an individual basis for individuals who do not have an Ontario Secondary School Certificate or Diploma, and will be taught on a 1:1 basis.
